Galop - Bizet
This version of Galop by Georges Bizet is being used to a Medieval War Game. Go figure!
Jupiter from The Planets - Holst
Montana Imagery has done a really nice job of advertising the majesty of this mountain state by using the exhillarating music from Gustav Holst's Jupiter from The Planets.
Allegro Giocoso - Brahms
The Allegro Giocoso we are currently rehearsing is actually the third movement of Johannes Brahms' Fourth Symphony. Here, enjoy a recording of Carlos Kleiber conducting the Bavarian State Orchestra.
Italian Symphony - Mendelssohn
You would be hard pressed to listen to modern orchestra recordings without hearing the name Kurt Masur. Here is the famous Gewandhaus Orchestra of Leipzig performing the Italian Symphony of Felix Mendelssohn.
William Tell Overture - Rossini
Watch past the opening title to this Bugs Bunny cartoon to hear an excerpt from our William Tell Overture. Animators were referencing The Lone Ranger radio show (which also used the William Tell Overture as its theme) for this Western episode.
Funeral March of a Marionette - Gounod
Alfred Hitchcock Presents was a suspense anthology TV show that ran from 1955-1965 and used an excerpt from Gounod's Funeral March of a Marionette for its theme music.
Russian Sailors' Dance - Gliere
Here is the Moanalua Symphony Orchestra playing Gliere's Russian Sailors' Dance. Can you hear your part?

To my High School Students:
Midterms are graded. Please check Power School for your results. I was pleased with the overall outcome of the exam. The performance section was enlightening!
Coming soon: links so that you can hear complete, polished performances of some of the pieces we are rehearsing for the Spring concerts.
